Third Generation F-Body: Firebird

It was 1970 when the last major change came to the F-body line. 1982 marked the first major change in 12 years and both the Firebird and the Camaro received a 100% overhaul which design and planning started as early as the mid 70's The plans were put on hold several times and even the suggestion of a front wheel design was thrown around, but the rear drive would prevail.

The new car was lighter, lower, sleeker, sexier and it was a huge hit everywhere GM brought it.

The largest engine a Camaro & Firebird buyer could get in 1982 was a 305. Potentially the biggest disaster was the introduction of the 4 Cyl engine which has listed the 4 Cyl powered Camaro in the book "Cars we love to hate."
